Donor Advised Funds A Donor Advised Fund permits the donor to advise the Board of Directors about how to make distributions of earnings from the fund. While federal tax laws require that the Board of Directors has the final decision, the Board will take the donor's wishes into consideration in making gifts. This allows the donors to be actively involved in their giving without some of the administrative work. Many
donors consider a Donor Advised Fund to be a welcome alternative to creating
their own private foundation because of its relative simplicity and lower
cost. Families who want to pass on their charitable values also like a
Donor Advised Fund because they can involve children in giving decisions
and name children as successor advisors. WCCF
