Waukesha County Community Foundation Nationally Ranked
The Waukesha County Community Foundation has earned a spot on a prestigious Community Foundation Top 100 List that was released in June.
There are more than 700 community foundations in the United States; of these, the Waukesha County Community Foundation is on the list of most active grantmakers at number 52 for 2009. This ranking is based upon the percentage of grants made compared to total assets.
The Waukesha County Community Foundation awarded 375 grants totaling more than $2.4 million to over 250 different not-for-profit organizations. Despite a challenging economy, the Foundation also received more than 1000 contributions totaling $2.5 million and 9 new funds were created for future grantmaking.
Foundation board chairman Ford Titus said, "We have long felt that Waukesha County is a generous community, a fact this ranking supports. As a community, we give where we live and where our families have benefitted from a wide range of strong nonprofit organizations."
The lists were released by CF Insights, which compiles and distributes data and information on finances, operations and best practices for community foundations nationwide. CF Insights was established by FSG Social Advisors, which consults foundations on how to accelerate their social impact, and the national association Council on Foundations.
The Waukesha County Community Foundation is a permanent pool of endowment funds created in 1999 to assist charitable donors in providing grant support to nonprofit organizations, with an emphasis on Waukesha County. A volunteer board of directors leads the Foundation, which has grown to over 150 charitable funds.
