Over 250 people attended the Waukesha County Community Foundation’s first annual “Giving Forward” breakfast on October 19 at the Country Springs to learn more about the WCCF, its funds and impact in the community.
“The WCCF is a collection of nearly 300 charitable funds that are the basis for all the work we do and the heart of our organization,” stated WCCF President Shelli Marquardt at the breakfast. “Each of our funds are established by a philanthropic person, family, business or organization that has a very personal reason for choosing the Waukesha County Community Foundation for their charitable giving.”
Attendees heard moving stories from several of those fund holders at the event.
“The WCCF is about helping donors give back to the community and positioning our donors’ gifts, so they will continue to give forward for years to come,” said Marquardt.
Competitive grant awards were also announced at the breakfast. Twenty four non-profit organizations are receiving $126,665 through 2016 WCCF grants.
Channel 58 News Anchor Michele McCormack emceed the event and the Waukesha North Chamber Singers and Arrowhead North Jazz Band provided entertainment. Northern Trust was the signature sponsor of the event with Baird, Froedtert & the Medical College, ProHealth Care and the WCCF’s Dalton Charitable Fund providing supporting sponsorship dollars.
